Fiber optic conduit has been installed and  tied in between I45 and Budde Road.

Traffic signal pole foundations for all of the new traffic signals has been installed on Grogans Mill and Lake Woodlands Dr. Underground conduit for several traffic signals Has also been installed. The manufacture of the traffic signal cabinets has commited to begin delivery iof the NITS cabinets and equipment by mid Jan 2008.

Underground conduit installation has begun  and the contractor is begining to receive materials. Construction should begin along the route of this project, TxDOT has estimated this project to be completed in 334 working days which in calendar days we will be looking at 18 months to 2 years.

A preconstruction has been scheduled by The Texas Department of Transportation for 9-7-2007. Once this meeting has been held we will have a scedule in in place for the construction phases. We will update when information is confirmed.

The bid opening for this project was July 11, 2007. Statewide Traffic Signals from Houston was low bid on this project with a total amount of $ 3,345,034.60 which was 11.85% under the estimated amount by TxDot. Montgomery County will only be responsible for 20% of the total with the remaining amount being funded by a grant that Commissioner Chance applied for and received 80% funding on this very important mobility project. We believe the project will be underway in less than 90 days. Lane improvements are already underway along this route to make room for the new traffic signals.

Things are still on schedule and scheduled for bid opening in Austin July 11,2007.

Montgomery County Precinct 3  Commissioner's Office  has applied for and received federal assistance for the installation of 10 new traffic signals , upgrade 12 existing traffic signals, install fiber optic cable, and network equipment to connect to Montgomery County Northstar. The roadway included in this grant include Lake Woodlands Drive from Interstate 45 to Kuykendahl Road and Grogans Mill / Sawdust from Interstate 45 to research Forest Dr. The signal and improvement designs have been approved by The Texas Department of Transportation and are scheduled for the July bid letting by TxDOT.
