Montgomery County Northstar

Montgomery County Northstar was developed by  Precinct 3 Commissioner Ed Chance in 2005. Utilizing the latest in transportation technology    Northstar manages the operation of all county owned traffic signals.

Northstar is located at  the Montgomery County Precinct 3  Office located at 1130 Pruitt Rd. in Spring Texas . At  the traffic management center technicians monitor over 250 cameras and the operation of every traffic signal Montgomery County Operates. The ability to remotely monitor traffic congestion on the roadways allows technicians to make adjustments to the traffic signal timing when necessary and notify Montgomery County's Motorist Assistance Units for stranded motorist.

The Commissioner's s office receives many request for the installation of many  forms of traffic control devices including  traffic signs and traffic signals. On many occasions the installation does not meet the state mandated requirements. We have included answers to some frequently asked questions  regarding traffic control devices. Many residents automatically think that a traffic signal is the solution to their traffic concerns, studies  show that an unwarranted traffic signal can cause more traffic problems than they solve.
